The Quiet Ripening
On Becoming a Reiki Master and Sharing from the Heart
I took my first yoga class in 2010, and have been sharing yoga asana and pranayama since 2021. I learned Ascension—the effortless mantra meditation that I use on a daily basis—in 2013, and became a teacher of the practice in 2023. In a world that feels increasingly designed around instant gratification, there is something beautiful about letting the fruit of our practices ripen quietly.
Back in February—nearly thirteen years after I was first attuned to Reiki by a lovely Zen nun named Myorei—I became a Master Practitioner, which means that I can now start teaching and attuning those who are called to open up to their innate healing abilities through this practice. It felt like a dream come true when my dear friend Sarah Taylor attuned me to the third and final level of Usui Reiki after talking about it for several years. And not on just any day—on the day of a powerful eclipse, by my beloved Arunachala.

Sarah is a gifted mystic, healer, and mentor who supports people going through awakening with immense compassion and humor. She’s been a vital friend in my ongoing journey with Kundalini. You can sign up for her offerings at lightofyourbeing.com or enjoy her videos here.
Not that many people know that I practice Reiki, as I’ve mostly shared it with those in my inner circle. Nurturing this practice quietly for more than a decade has given me a deep sense of familiarity with it and taught me to trust its gentle power. Over the years, those I have offered Reiki to either in-person or at a distance reported that they felt a noticeable energetic shift for the better. In light of all that is happening in the world, I have a strong desire to be of service by assisting others in their healing, and Reiki is one of the ways in which I feel called to do it.
I wonder whether there might be a practice that you’ve been quietly nurturing for a while. If so, I’m here to suggest that now might just be the time to start sharing it. In these uncertain times, your gifts are needed more than ever. The prospect of sharing something close to your heart might feel at once scary and exciting. These are some of the reminders I turn to when sharing something old or new for the first time:
Start before you feel ready. If you wait until you feel ready, that day might never come. Once you start and find your groove, it’s not uncommon to wish you had had the courage to start sooner.
Be honest about where you’re at in your journey. Where are you at and how do you feel about it? Is there a relevant teacher or lineage that you might want to acknowledge? Their energetic support will come through for you.
Learn to sit with the discomfort that invariably arises. Your skills will be refined through experience. Be okay with not doing it perfectly. Rather than perfection, ask yourself if it is something you can offer with love. Bless it that it may help those around you. Your enthusiasm will touch people.
Remember your why. What moved you to share this? Especially when no one shows up or when you’re have a challenging day. Offer up what you’re sharing to the divine. When done in devotion, your work creates ripples in both visible and invisible realms, even if it’s not clear right away. Keep sharing from the heart.
I don’t know when I’ll have the opportunity to hold my first Level I Reiki Training, but I know that it will happen when the time is right. For now, I’m sending out group Reiki at a distance on the last day of each month. Visit my website Sundari Arts to sign up and have your name added to the list. I offer this free of cost, with the option to give a donation 🌹

Congratulations, my love! It's a really special thing to be able to attune others. You are doing wonderful work in the world.
